What do you mean ?reavertm wrote:Unfortunately your error logs tells absolutely nothing as you enabled parallel compilation (-j2 or more), paste here the line that actually contains error message not compilation summary. Besides - what CPU do you have that does not have SSE?

could you file that bug? I have very slow machine atm and it would take a while to get output of that error (forgot to copy it). thanks in advanceinsane.awmn wrote:me too, kdelibs fails to build without ssl flag under gentoo 64bitPaczesiowa wrote:can someone confirm that kdelibs doesn't build without ssl flag before reporting a bug?

To move things around, unlock widgets (if they're locked), click the cashew on the right side of the panel, and you'll be able to drag and easily rearrange the items.Tolstoi wrote:I'm looking for a way to auto login as it was possible in 3.5 in kcontrol and a way to move items in the panel where I want them to be. Anyone know a way to do that?
Edit:
Just found a way to move things around in the panel but they simply won't go there where I want them.
I think it means you (like me) will have to transition to 'sets'. I'm not quite sure how this is going to work for me here at the moment. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.tnt wrote:so, how should the official kde 4.1.2 be merged ?
emerge kde-meta ???
what does this comment in the guide mean?Note: This method is provided to ease the transition to the new sets. There will be no meta ebuilds for KDE 4.2.
I have the same problems with Konqueror in KDE 3. Really f*cking annoying if you ask me and I'm not clear why/how that could happen. I'm also annoyed that starting any program from the command line results in the KDE 4 version starting by default instead of kde 3.F-0_ICE wrote:i have a couple problems with kde3 while 4 is installed
1. konqueror is missing buttons on the main toolbar forward, back, home, etc the only one showing are the refresh, stop, zoom in/out buttons. even after i restore the defaults on all toolbars and restart kde the problem persists.
opening quick launch applets on kicker opens in dolphin instead of konqueror. (same thing happens with the media device applet)
and a couple of kde4 things start in the background ( kded4 and kdeinit4) from what i can tell just those two.
as for kde4 itself the only thing i can tell that might be some kind of bug is that none of the widgets on the add widgets window have any description. everything else i have a problem with appears to be with features the aren't implemented yet.
personally i am waiting for khotkeys to be completed since it looks very basic right now and seems to lack what kde3 has, and kde4 ports of my favorite apps. namely ktorrent which the kde4 version is already in portage, kaffeine and kplayer according to the homepage of the last one at least
the first kde4 port has been relaesed. an the kaffeine devs are working on their kde4 port.
but from what i have seen i expect great things from kde4 when all it gets more features implemented.
thanks for all the great work. while i may not use kde4 now i will keep it installed to see how well it plays with kde3 installed.
I am not shure how an install via metapackages will work out. I used one (but not kde-meta) and it gave me an incomplete system without sound. I suggest you install it using the new sets. To do this, download the ones you like fromtnt wrote:so, how should the official kde 4.1.2 be merged ?

# cd /path/to/our/overlay/
# emerge -C $(find ./ -name \*.ebuild |sed -e "s:.ebuild::" -e "s:./::" |awk -F'/' '{print "="$1"/"$3}')
This is odd that we must take some specific action to have sets for KDE4 - I followed the tutorial to upgrade to KDE 4 and tried to use sets, as you can imagine it couldn't find any sets. I was somewhat stumped at this but was still able to simply do a world update and get KDE 4.1.2 (without sound I presume for the same reason as above - fixed easily enough but still....), I don't see why we sound have to do anything more then an emerge --sync and just have access to these sets. Is this the future plan? If we need to go out of our way to grab these set files it breaks the smoothness of portage I must say.......The tutorial should probably be updated to reflect this fact.Sensus wrote:I am not shure how an install via metapackages will work out. http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/? ... ;hb=master
And place them in /etc/portage/sets
You can then install KDE 4.1.2 by typing "emerge @kdebase-4.1" (or any other set, declared by "@").

Just either remove qt-phonon from qt-split set or unmerge qt-split set - you don't need whole set installed - packages already are depending on particular qt components (like qt-gui, qt-core etc)paulj wrote:edit: emerge -aC qt-phonon will not allow me to uninstall it as it is part of @qt-split
