ndiswrapper aluminium imac 24"

I am struggling trying to get the wifi working on my aluminium imac 24", it has a broadcom 4328 wireless card in it. As such I am using ndiswrapper to load the windows boot camp driver, however this only seems to result in
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
being pasted in dmesg every time I recycle the interface init script.
I have tried some differing drivers that I have found listed in compatible, some result in the same error and some result in a segmentation fault.

The kernel is

Code: Select all

Linux imac 2.6.26-gentoo-r1 #9 SMP Sun Sep 14 21:38:49 BST 2008 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8235 @ 2.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
The ndiswrapper version is
1.53
ndiswrapper -l reads

Code: Select all

bcmwl5 : driver installed
	device (14E4:4328) present
and the relevant bits of dmesg reads

Code: Select all

ndiswrapper: using IRQ 16
wlan0: ethernet device 00:1f:5b:c2:a9:3e using NDIS driver: bcmwl5, version: 0x4aa190c, NDIS version: 0x501, vendor: 'NDIS Network Adapter', 14E4:4328.5.conf
wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP; TKIP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK; AES/CCMP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
Regards

Tim

Search the forum using 4328. There are some threads where this has been fixed, but I don't recall them right off hand.

Blessed be!

Have you given a try to the Broadcom driver instead of ndiswrapper? It works pretty well on my Macbook pro with the BCM4328 ( http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php ). Faster connection and handles power management better. I just followed the instruction of the README file on the link.
