Sandbox violations after updating python to 2.5 (solved)

  • Quote

Post by rjtupas » Sat Jul 19, 2008 7:53 am

All,

Today I updated python to version 2.5. I followed the post-install instruction and ran python-updater. Everything seemed to be compiling well until portage tried to emerge dev-libs/boost-1.34.1-r2. I received the error below and cannot emerge the remaining packages that need updating.

Code: Select all

--------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY ---------------------------
LOG FILE = "/var/log/sandbox/sandbox-27582.log"

unlink: /usr/share/xml2po/docbook.pyc
open_wr: /usr/share/xml2po/docbook.pyc
....
I have done the following:
1. Edited make.conf to set j3 to j1 and disable ccache.
2. Rebuilt sandbox.
3. Repeat python-updater.

Should I emerge with

Code: Select all

FEATURES = -sandbox boost
?

Also, SELinux is running in permissive mode only.

TIA,

Randy

P.S. Emerge info:

Code: Select all

Same issue here, I've never seen this sort of message before.
So far I've been forced to skip the compilation of Boost with

Code: Select all

emerge --resume --skipfirst
After the rest of the packages finishes, I'll try to work it out.

Code: Select all

Seems like the offender has something to do with gnome-doc-utils:

Code: Select all

iodes ~ # equery belongs xml2po
[ Searching for file(s) xml2po in *... ]
app-text/gnome-doc-utils-0.12.1 (/usr/share/xml2po)
app-text/gnome-doc-utils-0.12.1 (/usr/bin/xml2po)
During a reemerge of gnome-doc-utils, it seems to clean some orphaned Python bytecode which might be the problem. I'll let you know if it works.

I hit the same problem. I was able to get things working by unmerging gnome-doc-utils and then merging it again. This got me passed the sandbox access violation problems.

re-emerging gnome-doc-utils solved it for me too!
Thanks guys

I didn't see this thread until now, I got around it with -sandbox.

Update: It did the trick - I reemerged Boost without problems after I had reemerged gnome-doc-utils.

Added bug #232626 because of this problem

  • Quote

Post by alfred » Tue Jul 22, 2008 8:26 am

I have added the bug [bug=232626]app-admin/python-updater: app-text/gnome-doc-utils should be added to the manual checks[/bug] in Gentoo bugzilla because of this problem.

I have proposed to add app-text/gnome-doc-utils to the manual checks of python-updater.
