Try installing flash 10 beta, I could only make it work with that version.

I mange to get flash working on Opera. You use the latest stable 9.0.124, and you use opera 9.5.
Opera should then detect it, which should be viewable but I can't remember how as I am bck on firefox.

From FreeBSD to Gentoo. Now lets have ago at Arch. (It's just not the same)

For me (on amd64) it worked with disabling all plugin paths except /usr/lib32/nsbrowser/plugins.

opt/opera/lib/opera/plugins
/usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins
/opt/netscape/plugins
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

I've installed netscape-flash and opera-9.50.

i have the same problem. I'm currently emerging netscape-flash(the 10beta version). if it works for me, i'll tell you.
I got it working previously too (at another linux install - my current install is fresh from the CD/Net), but at that moment mozilla-firefox was also installed ( maybe i should check on this, too). But I don't need Firefox anymore, because Opera is my favourite Browser now.

Anyway:
Have you checked if the directory of the flash package which actually contains the plugin is in your Opera-Plugin Path (with qlist from portage-utils)?

alright.

emerging netscape-flash just finished.
But i got no luck with that. Instead i did these steps and now it works.

I visited adobe.com and downloaded their flash-plugin for linux.
afterwards I installed mozilla-firefox-bin and executed the install-script from the adobe plugin.
I checked if it is working in Mozilla Firefox. It did.
I added the directory "~/.mozilla/plugins" to the Opera Plugin path.
so i checked in Opera and it worked.
Afterwards i uninstalled firefox again. and in Opera it is still there.. WORKING.

NOTE:
i executed the script previously without having mozilla-firefox installed and manually having created .mozilla Directory. But that actually did not work.
Opera always kept telling me, that it did not find new Plugins. So for me it looks like mozilla-firefox needs to be installed to make opera detect flash.

very very strange.. and this a very dirty solution, but it works. at least for me. Hope this helps

Huh? I' ve never ever had firefox installed. Maybe this has something to do with USE="nsplugins"

Code: Select all

nsplugin - Builds plugins for Netscape compatible browsers

Mozilla firefox doesn't need to be installed to use the flash.

I downloaded the binary of Opera 9.5 and then Adobe flash from Adobe.com

I placed the flash library in the plug-in folder of Opera. Loaded up opera, made sure it detected it by going through preferences, I think,
Low and behold it found it in that directory and it worked.

I got flash working on ~amd64 with Opera9.51 and net-www/netscape-flash-10_beta20080702 ...

But i have one error, videos didnt work :( I cant view videos on youtube or other sites ... other flash content works fine!

I can play Games like http://www.addictinggames.com/fancypantsadventure2.html or view any flash commercial -.-

On Firefox 2 with flash 10, youtube and co works fine ... so every time i want to watch a video i have to select "Open with Firefox" in the Opera Context menu and this is a bit annoying ...
Shockwave Flash
application/futuresplash spl
application/x-shockwave-flash swf
/opt/netscape/plugins/libflashplayer.so
NPAPI Plugins Wrapper 1.0.0
unknown/mime-type none
/usr/lib64/nsbrowser/plugins/npwrapper.so
Shockwave Flash
application/futuresplash spl
application/x-shockwave-flash swf
/usr/lib64/nsbrowser/plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Is this an error of opera or flash? or a mix of both? The preview of the video is showing and the player starts downloading the data, but didnt start the playback ... any suggestions?
