I compiled reiser4 into the kernel just now. No problem.

Here's my config file:

checked, it just doesn't compile for me.

I compiled zen1-preview2 with reiser4 but unfortunately it doesn't work, it says that root filesystem cannot be mounted or something similar.

also:

why is tlsf missing / not included ? no concurrent radix tree ? no video_uvc ?

tlsf & concurrent radix tree kicked big ass 8) :cry:

seems like zen1-preview* is some kind of testing balloon which doesn't include all of the nice beef :roll:

I'm back to master-devel :oops:

try unchecking Asynchronous SCSI scanning under scsi device support.

We are testing everything, so the current previews do not have all the stuff which heavily modifies the way the kernel behaves. today there will be preview3 which will include the rest of the stuff, which is missing now. In the meantime, could you give us more info about the reiser4 compile errors/ boot problems?

BFQ is not gone, it's still there.

btw, if anyone wants to see any new patches in zen, now is the right moment to ask. Please give us a link to the patch, along with a description of what it does.

that didn't help:

note the absence of reiser4.
this system boots fine with .24-zen5

yeah, this "latest pull" is ~1.5 weeks old... I'm running it too, and it runs fine. Waiting for master-devel-new! :)

it's old because waninkoko is waiting for 2.6.26-rc1 to update it :P
that didn't help:

note the absence of reiser4.
this system boots fine with .24-zen5
I'll look into that, hopefully with a fix in preview3.

EDIT: I found the cause. Reiser4 was not getting compiled, because i forgot to push a change to fs/Makefile, which makes reiser4 compile (silly me :oops: )

It will be fixed in coupla minutes.

Done. Concurrent radix trees make some changes to nrpages, which i had to fix.
Also, just tagged preview3.
Patch on sourceforge will be available shortly.
If there is something missing in preview3, tell me, as we will probably release -zen1 tomorrow.

edit:

I haven't compiled preview3 yet, but

the following is (still) missing compared to zen0:

* tlsf
* linux-uvc + dell xps m1330 support ? (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/dell_xps_m1330#webcam_integree, currently I have no access to my laptop, I will look at the drivers the needed section later)
* unionfs <-- it was replaced by aufs, right ?
* kgdb ? <-- does anybody use this of the zen-sources user-base ?
* bashorg_quotes <-- (I'm not using it), anyone ? :wink:
* anything other missing ?

edit2:

localversion-zen is still tagged -zen1-preview2 :idea:

Fixed.

By tlsf you mean the Memory Allocator for Real-Time? Was it ever in zen? i don't recall it ever being there... And it would be pretty hard getting it there, since it uses stdio.h string.h etc, which means it can't be compiled in.

unionfs was still not compatible with 2.6.25 last time i looked. I'll check again today though.

I'll add linux-uvc today as well.

Bashorg should be removed tbh.
kgdb... if we have enough time we might add it, but i don't really know atm.

afaik it's in latest master-devel (currently using it, I'll later boot to zen1-preview3)

I don't see this as a "bug" / disadvantage - it was indeed working really well for me, having it as a module should be good enough:
uname -r
2.6.25-zen0-09893-g41362b4-dirty

cat /proc/modules | grep tlsf
tlsf 4544 0 - Live 0xffffffffa0832000
no modifications to zen-sources were made :wink:

hope tlsf will make it in zen1 :P

The funny thing is, even waninkoko does not recall anything like tlsf being there :D I'll talk to him later about it though.

EDIT: There is unionfs for 2.6.25. I'll add it in a few mins. linux-uvc is already in master-new.

well, preview2 aka preview3

is being launched by immediately (10 secs after that) locks up with:
BUG: rwlock bad magic on CPU#0, swapper/1, ffff81013f868b68
Pid: 1, comm: swapper Not tainted 2.6.25-zen1-preview2#1
Call Trace:
[<ffffffff804a67d0>]
[<ffffffff80...........>]
[<ffffffff80...........>]
[<ffffffff80...........>]
[<ffffffff80...........>]
[<ffffffff80...........>]
...

........... means it differs from the first line

I'll try again later after changing the compiler-flags to a über-sane level & recompile it - it shouldn't be the flags' fault, though

I'm out - studying :idea:
