libgnutls up and downgrade?

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

libgnutls up and downgrade?

What's this about?

Code: Select all

Daedalus ~ # emerge -uDav world
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating world dependencies... done!
[ebuild UD] net-libs/gnutls-2.0.4 [2.2.2] USE="nls zlib -doc -guile -lzo (-bindist%)" 0 kB
What? A couple of days I had to recompile half of my packages that apparently depended on gnutls that was upgraded (not among the shortest to compile: kdelibs), and now it's being downgraded again? Why is my computer required to malfunction?

What arch are you using? 2.2.2 is stable for alpha, amd64, hppa, ia64, ppc, ppc64, and x86. Maybe sync again.

BTW: I'm using

Code: Select all

LDFLAGS="-Wl,--as-needed"
in my /etc/make.conf - and in this case, I only had to rebuild a few packages after the gnutls update.

Hi,

I also noticed westerday the downgrade of gnutls.
I was pretty happy since gnutls-2.2.2 prevent me to print with my Epson CX3200 (even if I've done the recommended revdep-rebuild)
Nevertheless gnutls-2.0.4 doesn't change the state of my printer.

What's happenning with this package ?

I just resynced and now it is unmasked again. Probably a mistake somewhere but it would not have been a funny one if I had let portage downgrade the package since then my system would have been broken again.
