Hi there,

Anybody can recommend some software in gentoo to assist the backup of the system (or some parts of it)?

Thanks!

Bacula might be overkill. Check out the wiki for some alternatives and a bacula how-to

I think I'll try "Keep" for a while to see how it goes. I don't really need a very sophisticated tool since I intend to use it on my own computer (not a network or something like this) and since I use KDE it will fit well on my desktop.

Thanks for the link and suggestions.

Bacula might be overkill.
For a single computer it is an overkill. For a network of 10+ machines I consider it the best invention since sliced bread...

What about sliced bread with a spread tomato and olive oil on it?

What do you recommend for a small network (5-6 clients)? Some of them are Microsoft Windows clients.

Where are the differences between Bacula, BackupPC and Amanda?

You may see dar

Code: Select all

emerge dar
It's rather easy to use (almost like tar) but designed to manage backups.
