Audacious would rather crash...

Help with creation, editing, or playback of sounds, images, or video. Amarok, audacious, mplayer, grip, cdparanoia and anything else that makes a sound or plays a video.

Audacious would rather crash...

...than play streaming audio, it would seem! And I don't know what else to do. As per the other suggestions on the forums surrounding this topic, I have mad as a USE flag (it was put into make.conf prior to emerging baselayout), and have re-emerged audacius and audacius-plugins both with and without the mad USE flag.

No change.

When any mp3 stream is played, audacious thinks about it for about 3-4 seconds, and then closes. The end. Running from the command line, I get:

Code: Select all

$ audacious
Open http://scfire-chi0l-2.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1041 with curl => 0x82dd2b8
Close 0x82dd2b8

GThread-ERROR **: file gthread-posix.c: line 171 (): error 'Device or resource busy' during 'pthread_mutex_destroy ((pthread_mutex_t *) mutex)'
aborting...
Aborted
which, honestly, means nothing to me... Maybe it does to somebody here?

Thanks in advance!
But... it IS pointless!

This bug will be fixed in audacious-plugins 1.3.4 slated for sometime next week.

Still a problem in audacious-plugins 1.3.4. Plays one song, then when advancing to the next, nothing. Any further activity locks audacious.

Hmm, I was just about to upgrade when I saw this...

The song advance problem, is that for streaming audio, or local files as well? Cause if it's local files as well, I think I might skip this release...

Cheers!

For me it is local files. I haven't tried any streams. It is annoying enough that I removed audacious.

I'm still having this issue playing files via network. Is this still an existing problem for people?

It could be, depending on which version you are using.

However, Audacious 1.5 should be released soon, so you may try that, if you want.

[EDIT]
Wow, apparently it has been released already. ;-)

Nevermind, I got it solved. instead of using smbfs to mount the Windows share, I used cifs, and it made a world of difference.
