Moved from Installing Gentoo to Portage & Programming.
not about getting gentoo installed, so moved here.

Hello

I got the same problem, but even after I reinstalled wxGTK and pciutils the error appears

Do you have any other suggestions maybe? :)

Thanks!

edit: If I compile it without gtk, this works.

But another problem occurs:

I started /etc/init.d/nvtv, switched back to my normal user and then typed

Code: Select all

nvtv -t
No supported video card found.
Any suggestions about it? I have a Nvidia 7600GS and installed the nvidia-drivers. I think I made it working with my old Geforce2 GTS, but after that I did not try it anymore, and I don't have the gui to test it there

I fixed this compile problem by disabling the 'zlib' USE flag for pciutils.

Code: Select all

echo "sys-apps/pciutils -zlib" >> /etc/portage/package.use
emerge --resume
TIP:when you see a "checking for <something> in -l<name> : no" followed by a error in the configure script, you can start to figure out what package needs tweaking by figuring out which package in portage owns the library file referred to by -l<name>.
1. -l<name> implies /usr/lib/lib<name>.a or (usr/lib64 or usr/lib32m try them all)
2. so ask portage who owns that lib:

Code: Select all

 equery b /usr/lib<name>.a
3. try switching up the USE flags on the package the 'equery b' reported.
