emerge sync doesn't work

Hello,

When I boot the livecd, my network works fine, but when I enter the chroot environment and issue "emerge sync" I get this error:

Starting rsync with rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage...
rsync: getaddrinfo:srync.gentoo.org 873: Temporary failure in name resolution
rsync error: error in socket IO code (10) at clientserver.c (83)

I have installed gentoo before with no problems. What am I missing now?

you probably forgot to copy resolve.conf from /etc/ to /mnt/gentoo/etc

i've been getting this problem as well.. i have installed gentoo many time here and never have had this msg.. maybe its because gentoo.org is doing somethign funny with the servers.. i was reading it in the aug 18th newsletter...

Interestingly, I had the very same problem of losing name resolution after chrooting. The entire interface disappeared... I had to reconfigure it using another virtual console, after which things seem to be working well...

I too am having this issue. I know it cant be my router. /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolve.conf is in the correct location.
I can resolve rsync.gentoo.org to tricia.cc.gatech.edu [130.207.108.134]
So it seems that the server is up, and listening, but still with the
