multiplexing internet connections

Suppose I have two connections coming into my house. I also have a box with three network cards running Gentoo. Suppose I want to use the bandwidth of both connections for the LAN that is served by the Gentoo box.

Any pointers on how to do this? Is it at all possible? I hear terms like 'multiplexing' and 'load-balancing' may come into this...

will do. I'm a couple of weeks away from actually implementing all this. I've been thinking of how to plan it before buying a few bits and pieces. I'll report back when I've had a chance to try.
