Well... are there any?... I mean... the working ones. There's quite a lot of them for Windows, i guess Linux has some too, I just didn't have any luck finding one so far.... right? :roll:

Well, I'm really sorry I don't know a real GUI for that task, but I would suggest mplayer's mencoder (command line) anyway because I'm quite sure you can get more out of this than with any GUI. The usage is totally straightforward too, so you will easily be able to handle it. For example, if you want to rip a DVD:

mencoder dvd://1 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4 -oac mp3lame -o movie.avi

If you need any help, you may post here or look at the examples in "man mencoder". Good luck!

Well, thanks, but that's not what I'm looking for ;P

I simply want to have quick access to most of the encoding options without the need to dig through all the manual pages..

And if it comes to ripping DVDs, media-video/dvdrip does the task perfectly imo ;)

media-video/dvdrip
You have to understand how it works. Then it works fine and has a gui.
I'm sure you have missed something for avidemux. They are both not easy.
Anyway it's all the same at the end...
Need help to get it working: "x-fi surround 5.1"

i'm quite sure i didn't miss anything for avidemux, i simply set up a simple encoding to xvid/mp3/avi and hit 'save'

dvdrip is great, but it's only for ripping dvds

Then, I think these are the ones you are looking for;

media-video/kino
media-video/lives
media-video/cinelerra-cvs

They are very advanced and have video editing capabilities.
Anyway it's all the same at the end...
