Hey, there's a tonne (or few) of support out there it seems huh? At the start of the thread, I reckon I missed out the efforts of everyone who answers support requests on the forums too. Even after several years of gentoo-ing, I still look at my motley collection of ex-trash servers and workstations and feel that warm glow of self-satisfied smugness! No matter how badly I might bork a system, a gentoo system can always be fixed! (although sometimes just easier to reinstall (that word is near blasphemy I fear))
A lot of that is down to Gentoo being great, but also to the top notch support and staggering record of user experience available on these forums.

I also want to give my big thanks to all the developers at work and appreciation for doing this at their free time as well. Now I'm going to wreck the party a bit though One can question oneself why not more people are chiming in on this thread though? and I think it's because of things like this, taken from bugzilla:
net-ftp/proftpd-1.3.1 was released on 2007-10-05.

proftpd-1.3.1.ebuild
bug still not closed... and a similar situation exists for Shorewall firewall package as well, and there are probably more... this is very essential packages, at least if you run a server or is Gentoo only for Desktop freaks?

every year.
Thanks to all people working to keep gentoo alive and up-to-date with fresh ebuilds.
Especially to people who managed to make things move again in the right way (Gentoo monthly newsletter, fresh announce)
