I have some other error, with hda-intel audio:

Code: Select all

hda-intel: Invalid position buffer, using LPIB read method instead
this show dmesg.

and another behavior is that using mplayer music is good until I stop playing and start. The sound than disapear (mpd or mplayer looks like playing but no sound out of the speakers).

Code: Select all

hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC883, trying auto-probe from BIOS...
I have realtek chip on biostar board.

rc6-zen0 working ok, rc7-zen1 "master" also work ok.

I just crawl down zen sources logs and find out that there was some updates to hda-intel recently.

zen-sources-2.6.24_rc7-r1 works - at least menuconfig :P

@Waninkoko: I'm running 2.6.24-rc6-zen0 on second machine (sempron) now and it boots normally (no freeze after hlt check).

Hey there, just recently discovered this kernel and it looks impressive.
Only thing is I'm having some problems with it... Sorry if this has already been answered, spent quite a bit of time looking for an answer...

I am currently using the "zen-sources-2.6.24_rc7-r1" ebuild from the "custom-kernel" overlay.
My problem is I am trying to compile this kernel for a 64-bit environment and am unable to do so. I noticed whenever I emerge zen-sources, it uses the "x86" use flag rather than "x86_64".
I decided to let it go, and went off and compiled my kernel like I normally would with "gentoo-sources" (make && make modules_install) but, I am unable to re-emerge something such as klibc (for uvesafb) because it complains about having a 32-bit kernel within a 64-bit environment. So I decided to go back and try to re-emerge the kernel with USE="x86_64 -x86" but that does not get me very far. So, is this kernel only suited for 32-bit installs, or am I just missing something?

Here is my .config file
http://adversity.gameover.com/gentoo/config

Thanks

How do I remake local branches?

I compiled and installed 2.6.24-rc7-zen2. Attempting to uninstall or install nvidia drivers (100.14.19 and 169.07) results in a system freeze using 2.6.24-rc7-zen2 master devel.

2.6.24-rc7-zen0 master works okay. I assume the nvidia driver installation failure is due to me not remaking my local branches on my 32 bit kernel sempron system.

back to normal after 2 days :). all is good (2.6.24-rc7-zen2, master). (that gnome-terminal issue with portage 2 days back got fixed today, linux-uvc still hangs on my dell vostro but the one in portage works, thinkpad acpi extras still dont compile with legacy bay support.) patch : http://hirakendu.mooo.com/zen-sources-s ... .patch.bz2.

DeathCount: i386 and x86_64 architectures have been unified into x86.

Everybody: Upgrade to 2.6.24-rc7-zen2, it's more stable.
