NV driver after building with only nvidia driver

  • Quote

Post by sargek » Sat Jan 05, 2008 4:24 pm

I built my box with the nvidia driver listed in /etc/make.conf:

Code: Select all

VIDEO_DRIVERS="nvidia"
and need to do some testing with the "nv" driver to see if there is a problem with the nvidia driver. How do I pull in the "nv" driver after modular X has been built? I added "nv" to the video driver list in make.conf, but cannot figure out how to get emerge to pull in the nv driver. Thanks in advance!

emerge x11-drivers/xf86-video-nv -1

For future reference, http://gentoo-portage.com/ may be of help.

Also,

Code: Select all

emerge -s
will search portage. Capitalise the 's' and it will search the description as well (the above site is much faster, however)

What about changing to:

Code: Select all

VIDEO_DRIVERS="nvidia nv"
and running

Code: Select all

emerge -uDNav world
?

Cheers,
