I start using your kernel-sources and I'm loving it!

Waninkoko is there any chance you could include some acpi4asus patches in next release please?

Compiles, boots, and runs great here, with no problems! Great job! :D Many thanks for getting a 2.6.24-rcx-kamikaze out so quick!

First subjective impression is that it's fast and responsive. The CFQ scheduler seems a little more responsive on my system than it had previously.

If you are using a Linux 2.6 kernel, please make sure
you have configured kernel sources matching your kernel

the "O" KBUILD parameter, make sure to specify this
directory with the SYSOUT environment variable or with
the equivalent nvidia-installer command line option.

Depending on where and how the kernel sources (or the

Anyone knows how to fix it? It compiles with .23 kernel :?
The workaround i use for getting it to work is to change the kernel name in the Makefile (usually from -rc2-kamikaze1 to -kamikaze1 or something similar), so nvidia-drivers uses a clean /lib/modules dir, and then it compiles.

Any ideas?

W.F.M.[tm] - 100.14.23 built w/o problems here against -rc2-kamikaze1.

The kernel works great! Genetics ftw! :D

same problem (and the same error):
can't built nvidia drivers (100.14.23) with 2.6.24-rc2

I have seen also a report with similar issue on nvidia linux forum.
It seems related to whatever kernel changes not kamikaze patches of course.

Hm, I just realized that one of my cpu's cores is using constantly 100% cpu. Though top/htop/anything does not show a process causing this. The cpu load is pretty constantly 1.0 - no matter if X is running or not.

Kernel config is pretty much the same as with .23-kamikaze5, and I also haven't seen this on .24-rc1-preview1

How can I find out what causes that load, if it is not caused by a process?

Lastest iwlwifi doesn't work with .24 but I think I'll stay with iwlwifi kernel driver.

looks like another dreaded driver issue with .24 ;-). Just use alsa in the kernel.

easy fix for nvidia driver installation:
create softlink in
/usr/src/linux-2.6.24-rc2/include

ln -s asm-x86 asm-i386

next install nvidia driver

however, now, when I can boot to KDE:
ACPI panel is gone

I think kernel's alsa is 1.0.15 or very similar (I had to drop my alsa patch).

Relinking OSS kernel modules for "2.6.24-rc2-kamikaze1 SMP preempt mod_unload CORE2 "
This may take few moments - please stand by...

Relinking the OSS kernel modules failed
I guess its .24 kernel problem... ? So some patch for OSS4 is needed.

EDIT:

Fixed... I've replaced ‘SA_SHIRQ’ with ‘IRQF_SHARED’ :)

Code: Select all

user host ~ $ uname -a
Linux blue 2.6.24-rc2-kamikaze1 #1 SMP Wed Nov 7 18:38:46 EST 2007 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
unified arch/x86!

colored kernel messages are neat too.

nvidia-drivers-100.14.19 working fine with the above asm-i386 -> asm-x86 soft link.

No, definitely not! For testing only...

From the project page http://oss.oracle.com/projects/btrfs/ :
The Btrfs disk format is not yet finalized, and it currently does not handle disk full conditions at all. Things are under heavy development, and Btrfs is not suitable for any uses other than benchmarking and review.
But IMHO it seems to be progressing faster then ext4...
