I'm unable to compile kickoff. Anyone else having problems?

Code: Select all

richSRV ~ # emerge kickoff -av

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies             ... done!
[ebuild   R   ] kde-base/kickoff-9999.4  USE="-debug -htmlhandbook -pie -test -xinerama*" 0 kB [1]

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 kB
Portage tree and overlays:
 [0] /usr/portage
 [1] /usr/portage/local/layman/kde

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] y

EDIT: they moved!

It can be found in kdebase. Is it true then that we don't need this ebuild anymore?

Okay, to not pollute my posting any further:

kickoff-9999.4 is NOT needed any more. it is contained in kdebase-9999.4

You will need to remerge kdebase, when you unmerge kickoff though, as it deletes the files, their checksums match.

Erm, why did you remove qca-2?
As far as I can see it is not in portage (not on wherever I synced from today (somewhere in Europe/Germany, I guess), nor on http://gentoo-portage.com/app-crypt/qca or http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/ge ... crypt/qca/ )

Maybe I am wrong, but I think it is needed at the moment.
Ideas are bulletproof

It seems that i need to set some variables (?)

Good news everyone ...

Post by Ingmarv » Wed Oct 24, 2007 7:37 pm

Split ebuilds for Beta 3 available.

Currently split ebuilds for kdebase kdebase-workspace kdegraphics are available.
Following soon: kdenetwork kdegames

Also note that at the moment of speaking krunner & konqueror & kgamma are missing, but should follow soon.

You'll find a sample package.keywords for the split ebuilds in the Documentation folder of the overlay checkout. Unstable portage is still a requirement. It's not ready for production. We're not responsible if your house burns down, girlfriend gets kidnapped, etc ...

We're not planning to do a complete set of split ebuilds for the whole of KDE4 right now, that will change for future KDE4 releases.

If you hit any problems with the split ebuilds, please post here, and preferrably pastebin the full build.log as instructed in the error message.

Enjoy :-)

I have been out for some days and now I see a lot of changes... WOW! :o

I see that kickoff ebuild has gone out, and now emerge --depclean would to remove net-libs/telepathy-qt and net-voip/tapioca-qt.

This is my new build script:

Code: Select all

rm -f ~/rebuild_svn.*
date > ~/rebuild_svn.check
for i in =kde-base/qimageblitz-9999 =media-libs/taglib-9999 =app-misc/strigi-9999 =dev-libs/soprano-9999 =kde-base/kdelibs-9999.4 =kde-base/kdepimlibs-9999.4 =kde-base/kdebase-9999.4 =kde-base/kdegames-9999.4 =kde-base/kdeedu-9999.4 =kde-base/kdemultimedia-9999.4 =kde-base/kdeadmin-9999.4 =kde-base/kdeartwork-9999.4 =kde-base/kdetoys-9999.4 =kde-base/kdeutils-9999.4 =kde-base/kdepim-9999.4 =kde-base/kdegraphics-9999.4 =kde-base/kdenetwork-9999.4 =kde-base/plasma-extras-9999.4 =kde-base/kdesdk-9999.4 =kde-base/kdevplatform-9999.4 =kde-base/kdewebdev-9999.4 =kde-base/raptor-9999.4 =kde-base/kde-9999.4 =media-sound/amarok-9999.4 ; do emerge --oneshot $i $1 || echo "${i}$1 `date`" >> ~/rebuild_svn.failed ; done
Have I lost something else?
Maybe a fresh new ebuild...

I fiddled around with decibel ( which depends on those two ), and until things are fully fixed, kdenetwork-9999.4 (just the live ebuild) doesn't depend on decibel anymore.

kdeartwork emerge fails with:

Code: Select all

rm: cannot remove `/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdeartwork-9999.4/image//usr/kde/9999.4/share/icons/crystalsvg/32x32/apps/package_games_card.png': No such file or directory
here's the dump:

Code: Select all

 *
 * ERROR: kde-base/kdeartwork-9999.4 failed.
 * Call stack:
 *                  ebuild.sh, line 1695:  Called dyn_install

 *                  ebuild.sh, line   44:  Called src_install

 *  The die message:
 *   Remove of share/icons/crystalsvg/32x32/apps/package_games_card.png failed

 * If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
 * A complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdeartwork-9999.4/temp/build.log'.
 *

if anyone can help, please say so. i suppose it's not my problem because

/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdeartwork-9999.4/image//usr/kde/
is different from:
/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdeartwork-9999.4/image/usr/kde/

cheers

I'm not sure if it has been reported before:

Code: Select all

CMake Error: This project requires some variables to be set,
and cmake can not find them.
Please set the following variables:
QT_QTDBUS_LIBRARY (ADVANCED)
This is from soprano-9999 and happens if qt has not been compiled with dbus support. There should be a check about the qt use flags in the ebuild I think :)
I hear it happens/did happen with kdelibs too.

Nepomukdaemon

Post by greenrd » Thu Oct 25, 2007 9:46 am

I am trying to get metadata support working in dolphin. If I choose to use soprano-1.95.0_beta2, when kdebase has been emerged, nepomukdaemon is nowhere to be found on the system. If I choose to use soprano-9999, kdelibs fails to compile (as previously mentioned on this thread).

Fixed, thanks :-)

Could you pastebin / mail the configure output of kdelibs, after emerging soprano-1.95.0_beta2?

@Ingmarv
Glad to help! By the way, I have found a similar problem with kdegames and the opengl use flag for qt right now (I'm compiling the beast while we talk hehe).

There should be svn instead of 9999.4 in kde/9999.4/share but I don't know why it points to the wrong directory.

EDIT: just synced the overlay and the problem is gone, tnx for the fix guys.

This might seem like a dumb question but for the sake of not screwing up my working kde-3.5.8 install I'm going to ask it:

How do I go about installing the latest from the kde overlay in parallel with my current version? Does it do this by default?
I've got the overlay set up as well as my keywords and use flags (I think), I'm just not quite sure how to go about emerging it.

I've looked all over for the answer to this question so I'm assuming I'm missing something obvious....

Thanks
If it ain't broke - fix it till it is!

Create a new user. That is the easiest way and you can't destroy your current config.
Plus I've seen, that some things work better if you wipe out your kde4 config (rm -fr ~/.kde and the kde4 account).

Yep I was planning on making a seperate user for kde4, but what I'm wondering now is how to go about safely _installing_ kde4 without overwriting/unmerging the older version. I get the impression from this thread that's what most people are doing. I'm just trying to avoid screwing up (or removing) my 3.5.8 install that took a day to compile, thats all. I almost just compiled kde4 without useing portage but I figure why do that when portage is so wonderful.

Thanks for the advice though!

I created a chroot... just to be on the safe side... but it's probably overkill.
