setting pine to retrieve mail from a remote IMAP server

Hey everybody, this isn't exactly a Gentoo-specific question, but anyway... I'm trying to configure Pine to retrieve mail from a remote IMAP server (I'm sick and tired of using Novell Groupwise, which is standard in my university). I've looked quite a bit, and can't find either

(A) any fields in my .pinerc file where one would enter the addresses for the incoming/outgoing mail servers, the port numbers over which they would connect to my local machine, the username/password combination for my email account, and other information Pine would need, or

(B) a clear and up-to-date HOWTO somewhere on how to set Pine up to do this (you'd think this would be prominently displayed in Pine's website somewhere)

Can anybody provide me with either (A) or (B)? I'd be quite grateful.

This is the setting for the imap server in pine:

inbox-path={imap.mail.server.edu/novalidate-cert/user=your_user_name}inbox

be careful it sends the information username/password in clear text.
