Problems with Printing with a HP PSC1410, borders are wrong

Hi,
i have a HP PSC1410, so i installed hplip and cups, works fine. But i have a problem with the output. I wanted to print a pdf document and the page was printed with some missing at the bottom. So i know there is a printable range, but afaik this is not 1 or 2cm. So i have my paper and on the end a part of the document is missing, just white. Is there anyone who has an idea what i can do? I use A4 and the Paper is A4, too.

I tried it from windows, there it is fine so it must be a linux problem. When i compare the 2 papers, i see that the linux page seems to be set a little bit down. So i mean from top to text on the windowspage is smaller then the border at the linux page. I hope u unterstand what i mean. So i have to find a way to say linux to move the document a little bit higher to fit.

Do you use the hpijs print driver

Code: Select all

emerge hplip
and a one-cartridge (CMY) printing mode? IF not give them a try.

yes i use hplip.
I can choose the printout mode so that he uses just the black cartridge but this doesn't help.

Well i found this:
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cg ... P-PSC_1400
Sort-of works; page margins are wrong (bottom and sides of pages get cut off)
Is there anyway to fix this? Maybe a way to say the printer to move the document a little bit higher?

I think you could do this by altering the ppd file.
I think it is in /usr/share/cups/model/foomatic-ppds/HP/HP-PSC_1400-hpijs.ppd.gz
although you may be using a different one.

The ppd file is where the printable area and page sizes for a printer are defined.

I've never done it before, but I think it is possible.

Just save the unaltered ppd somewhere before messing with it.
