Hello,

I would like to update my system. After

Code: Select all

emarge --sync
I try to update the system with the next command

Code: Select all

emerge --update --deep --newuse world
. It gives me a message which has related to ipw3945:
Messages for package net-wireless/ipw3945-1.2.2:

* Could not find a Makefile in the kernel source directory.
* Please ensure that /usr/src/linux points to a complete set of Linux sources
* Could not find a Makefile in the kernel source directory.
* Please ensure that /usr/src/linux points to a complete set of Linux sources
*
* ERROR: net-wireless/ipw3945-1.2.2 failed
How can I solve this problem?

I have at this moment the ipw3945-1.2.0 version and it works well. If I don't want install only this, what I have to do!

Would you help me to solve this problem?

Regards,
Nader

try doing "eselect kernel list"

and post what happens. if eselect isn't a command, do "emerge eselect"

If you want to avoid an update of ipw3945 then you could add the following line to /etc/portage/package.mask:

Code: Select all

>net-wireless/ipw3945-1.2.0
But be aware that this means that all further updates of this package in the future will be prevented until you disable this line again!!!

Thus I'd follow the advice of krovisser and fix the problem with your kernel ...

you could relink your /usr/src/linux to point to the kernel you currently use
i did this all the time when i emerged gentoo-sources and the script linked
the /usr/src/linux to the new kernel when i only wanted the old kernel.
