layman overlay problem [solved]

This forum covers all Gentoo-related software not officially supported by Gentoo. Ebuilds/software posted here might harm the health and stability of your system(s), and are not supported by Gentoo developers. Bugs/errors caused by ebuilds from overlays.gentoo.org are covered by this forum, too.

Hi,

since the last " eix-sync && layman -s ALL && emerge -uDva world"
i receive following problem on "emerge -uDva"

Code: Select all

dindin nirax # layman -a gnome-experimental
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/layman", line 23, in <module>
    from   layman.config            import Config
ImportError: No module named layman.config
now from my side there was no change whatsoever in any configuration concerning layman.
is this a known problem ?

sorry for the answer delay, was on a biz-trip.

my layman verision is as follows:
[ebuild R ] app-portage/layman-1.0.10 0 kB
i have up to date etc-config status also

i see that 1.1.1 is available with ~amd64 flag, so i will check if upgrading will solve it

ok after updating the previous error was gone, but every repository returned an error.

after a little forum browsing i could resolve it with

revdep-rebuild -X --library libexpat.so.0

rebuilding the libexpat.
now it is back running. thanks for the support.

I ran into the same symptoms today, but with a different root cause.

My problem was that python was updated (from 2.4 to 2.5): I needed to run "python-updater -i" to move all the python packages to the new tree. Just re-emerging layman works too.
