New Gentoo Multicard Reader

  • Quote

Post by Robstar » Sat Jul 14, 2007 10:33 am

I had some problems install gentoo so I did it manually missing bits and pieces out but I've added them now and everything works a ok except the multicard reader. It works and by that I mean if I have a card in there on reboot it will see it and do all the normal stuff. Take it out it thinks it still there. Add a card after turn on the machine on it won't ever see it. They only way I got around this problem is by disconnecting and reconnecting the card reader. My multicard reader is built-in to the machine so I have to open it up and disconnect the power and I don't want to keep doing this in case I damage the inside of my pc or get a hell of an electric shock.

So what boxes do I need to tick in the kernel or install to make it work again. I have the scsi generic support, the probe all luns and the disk support naturally.

When you do have a card installed, what device does it show up as in /dev? What drivers did you have to install to get it working? Does it show up in lspci or lsusb?

it shows if i reset (disconnect and reconnect) it with a card is in it. Comes up as /dev/sde. If I take the card out it is still there.
it doesn't show up when I stick a card in so have to reset it to make it find it.
