FluxBox -> Can't configure anything!

Hi there,

I've downloaded FluxBox, but i can't configure anything! I'm freaking out!!!

I've read after emerging fluxbox that the shared folder changed to commonbox. so i configured everything that i thought it would be good. i also setup a .fluxbox directiory in my home-directory but all changes that i have done doesn't work!!!

I really need HELP

So you already tried messing with the /usr/share/commonbox directory?

What kind of changes you are making? I mean, if you want to set your own style you put in .fluxbox directory, you must have 'init' file there that points to that style? Am I getting the situation right? Because I use fluxbox and it works really fine with me

After you emerge fluxbox remove that ~/.fluxbox directory. Next time you start fluxbox it will create that directory for you with all the files in it. You can edit the files such as init and menu, but keep in mind, for changes to init to work you need to restart fluxbox. You could also emerge fluxconf, which gives you some nice graphical tools for setting up some stuff in init and the menu.

thanks for your help everyone!

i've emerged fluxconf and now everyting works great! only one thing not....
I can't set a background-image. I've tried various things with the config-files but none of them worked!

any solutions?

P.S.: Sorry about my bad english! I'm used to speek german

in command prompt:

bsetroot /path/to/image

or if you want transparecy in terms you use

Esetroot -scale /path/to/image

if changing style file you add 'rootCommand: ' without quotes in front of the command
