Open Mosix packages

I'm very new to Gentoo but I have a history on Slackware and the old Peanut Linux. I'm also a Knoppix user and I have used SLAX live for a long time. I used Quantian for my home OpenMosix cluster but this is a live CD and I want a real OpenMosix cluster based on both disk less and normal machines.

Now I have installed Gentoo and tftp for the PXE boot of some diskless clients and all of a sudden the OpenMosix packages is gone (february). Yes I should have searched for the OpenMosix packages from the beginning, I know...
Does anybody know if the Gentoo OpenMosix packages are available somewhere else or shall I continue from scratch using the package directly from the OpenMosix team?

Does anybody know if the reason for taking away those packages was that Gentoo doesn't have resources to maintain the packages or was it because the OpenMosix team is not maintaining it?

Thanks anyway for the best distro I have seen so far.

Welcome to Gentoo,

OpenMosix was dropped from Gentoo because it was unmaintained and no Gentoo developers wanted to take it on.
However, you can still use the Gentoo ebuilds for it. OpenMosix has been removed from the live portage tree but the ebuilds are in the CVS archive

You can fetch them from there and put them in your own portage overlay, so that portage will use them but emerge --sync will not delete them for you.

two things,

a 2.6 kernel OpenMosix is slowling being developed, its still in alpha.

Also you can install Quantian to the hdd with the "knoppix-installer" command.

I've been trying to get the 2.6 kernel of OpenMosix to work for a while..I'm stuck on one kernel error, I've got a thread here on it.

Thanks... never thought of looking for the ebuild in svn... I got it tonight and the 2.6.22 patches... maybe I can toss an updated ebuild together. Anyone know if the 2.6.22 patches actually work or not?
