Help with creation, editing, or playback of sounds, images, or video. Amarok, audacious, mplayer, grip, cdparanoia and anything else that makes a sound or plays a video.
There's no official linux version of Adobe's Shockwave plugin, so I thought I'd give the Windows version a try under Wine. I installed Wine and installed Firefox and IE6 under Wine, and installed the Flash and Shockwave plugins for both of them. Flash works perfectly in both Windows Firefox and IE6, however, in both, Shockwave plays without sound (though it does play). The identical behavior in both browsers makes me think it's a Wine issue. Have any Gentooers had any luck getting the Shockwave plugin under Wine to output sound?
I've been working on this lately, and I had the same trouble until I ran winecfg and selected an audio driver (ALSA). It seems that wine doesn't automatically configure sound, you have to do it yourself.
Now I have Shockwave working via Windows Firefox, but I do have a problem with studdering sound. I also get a dsound error (underrun?). Once I figure out what is causing this and fix it, I hope sound will work perfectly, as I desperately need the sound features of Shockwave for the application I need to implement.
Of course, I would really REALLY like Adobe to just make us a Linux Shockwave !!!!!! Please?
Mike
