Gentoo 2007.0 and Radeon X700 Mobility

Gentoo 2007.0 and Radeon X700 Mobility

Hello, I can not get to work GTK++ installer fo Gentoo 2007.0 on my Toshiba M70-160/159, its stops itself.

And i saw that there is only Gnome, i can not emerge KDE without internet connection...


Any idea?

u can use the clasic console install method:

btw... what does the name of this thread has to do with the actual problem?

Because Xorg or X11 have a problem to identufy my card... it seems that 2007.0 hasn't got radeonfb driver...

Hi Darez,

Your problem is the one discussed here: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-558277.html

The Live discs don't contain any ATI drivers, for whatever reason. You'll have to edit your xorg.conf file to use the VESA driver instead. See the thread above for details.

I know the Live DVD contains many, many different desktops. At the login screen (once you get X running), hit "sessions", I believe, to see a list of options. I don't remember about the Live CD, though, but you could check.
