Problem with Refresh rate

  • Quote

Post by Frostwarrior » Sat Apr 07, 2007 1:09 am

Hello everyone. I have problems with the refresh rate of my monitor. In the Xfce Display Manager appears two modes:

Default
800x600@85
640x480@85

The Default mode means 1024x768@60

I modify the config of xorg.conf but nothing happens. Can the Display manager have fixed values? If it is, where can i change it?

I would be thankful for any help.

Here is my xorg.conf:

Code: Select all

Section "Monitor"

    Identifier "My Monitor"
    Modeline "1024x768" 75 1024 1048 1184 1328 768 771 777 806 -hsync -vsync
    HorizSync 30-55
    VertRefresh 50-120

EndSection

What model of monitor is? Brand. diagonal, max refresh...
You could try in a console :

Code: Select all

xorgcfg -textmode
There, go to monitor section and choose one appropriate to the specs of your monitor.
Then, save xorg.conf and restart X server.

Pixel clock rate: 65 MHz
Hsync: 30 - 55 kHz
Vsync: Vertical: 50 - 120 Hz
Max Resolution: 1024x768 píxeles @68 Hz
Recommended Res: 800x600 píxeles @85 Hz

I tried xorgconfig, xorgcfg and editing the xorg.conf, but i can't get more than 1024@60

There can't be, at least, a tool to force the resolution of the monitor?

Well... After a long time of no use, i tried by updating the nvidia drivers to the latest that mi card supports (Geforce4MX).

Now it appears several resolution modes, but nothing about 1024x768@70. Only 1024@60 and 1024@85.

This is so strange... My xorg.conf isn't properly configured? The Hsync and Vsync are correct, i veryfied it already.
