vmware-server problems [fixed]

i have gotten vmware-server to run for awhile on stable x86 keyword arch. The problem is reboots (doesn't think its configured b/c of udev not saving the device nodes - that was fixed by an init script hack i found somewhere that checks for and creates if missing the nodes before attempting to start the service), and now when i attempt a:

/etc/init.d/vmware start

it returns to the command line w/o any output. when i check the service status, it says it is stopped:

I got the service to run by invoking the vmware-serverd directly from /opt/vmware/server/sbin/, but that isn't pleasant nor does it seem to recognize the vmnet* virtual adapters when the vm is booted. I have manually loaded both vmmon and vmnet modules into the kernel prior to manually starting the service.

I would really like to have this service work on boot up w/o a hitch and work consistently no matter how many boots i do.

uninstall and remove all associated vmware directories, then reinstalling and reconfiguring made it work. Guess it had to do with the recent update to vmware server.
