Kopete Jabber extra new-lines...[Workaround found]

  • Quote

Post by elsenator » Thu Feb 15, 2007 4:35 pm

I've been having some trouble with the Jabber plugin for Kopete. It seems that all the stuff it sends out contains way too many new-lines, since the people who recieve my messages complain about all my text having several new-lines both in front and behind it. Basically, everytime they get a message from me, it fills up the entire chat window. I am not sure if this is an overall problem with all recieving clients, but the peers i have verified the problem with have been Gaim clients.

Have any of you experienced this problem, and can i solve it somehow?

I am running the latest version of Kopete(0.12.4) using KDE 3.5.5

Sorry can't help with the specific issue but I can recommend gaim, I prefer it over kopete.
It does (Aim, IRC,GroupWise,Jabber,ICQ,MSN,Gadu,Napster,Yahoo,Zephyr)

Yeah, I've tried Gaim several times, but I've had a lot of trouble with messages not getting through to certain Windows clients. More specifically Trillian.

I really like Kopete, so i'd rather find a solution to this, than change to a different client because of it.

Thanks, i, of course, did a google search myself before posting here, but i didn't find anything of interest.

It seems that the problem is caused by a mix of Kopete and Gaim. I've switched to Gaim, hoping for this to clear up soon, so i can go back to Kopete.

:) I only posted that so that you could see that there are numerous bugs reported about it. If you want it fixed follow up with those bug reports and help provide information that will help the dev's see the light.

A workaround is to disable the "rich text". :)
