Dcraw-8.45 won't compile with gimp USE Flag (SOLVED)

I've been tinkering with this for a few days now and I still can't get dcraw to compile. It errors with this message:

Code: Select all

>>> Source compiled.
>>> Test phase [not enabled]: media-gfx/dcraw-8.45

>>> Install dcraw-8.45 into /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/dcraw-8.45/image/ category media-gfx
/usr/bin/install -d /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/dcraw-8.45/image//usr/bin
/usr/bin/install dcraw /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/dcraw-8.45/image//usr/bin
/usr/bin/install dcparse /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/dcraw-8.45/image//usr/bin
/usr/bin/install -d /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/dcraw-8.45/image//usr/share/man/man1
/usr/bin/install dcraw.1 /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/dcraw-8.45/image//usr/share/man/man1
/bin/install -c -d /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/dcraw-8.45/image//usr/lib64/gimp/2.0/plug-ins
/usr/bin/gimptool-2.0: line 274: /bin/install: No such file or directory
/bin/install -c rawphoto /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/dcraw-8.45/image//usr/lib64/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/rawphoto
/usr/bin/gimptool-2.0: line 278: /bin/install: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/gimptool-2.0: line 278: exec: /bin/install: cannot execute: No such file or directory

!!! ERROR: media-gfx/dcraw-8.45 failed.
Call stack:
  ebuild.sh, line 1593:   Called dyn_install
  ebuild.sh, line 1036:   Called src_install
  dcraw-8.45.ebuild, line 61:   Called die

!!! gimptool failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: It emerges if I use -gimp, but that's half the reason I need the package... :?

Test to see if it works with the ~arch version of the gimp. If it does, you should create an entry on bugs.gentoo.org saying that it needs its dependencies updated, otherwise create a bug providing the information you posted in this thread, as well as your 'emerge --info'

I had the same problem. I 'solved' it by doing:

Code: Select all

ln -s /usr/bin/install /bin/install
After that I had installed it without an problem. But it is not THE solution. It is better then nothing. :wink:

I'm running ~arch for my entire system. The trick Stefan showed worked.

Thank you,

the 'ln -s /usr/bin/install /bin/install' fixes the problem with dcraw 8.73 too.
