I am not sure if this belongs here, but I saw the largest number of wine posts in this forum so I chose it.
I have an interesting problem with wine 0.9.25: most text is invisible. I first noticed this when I tried to run Packet Tracer 4.0 in wine, but I have now noticed it with other applications I have installed in my .wine directory. Text such as dialog boxes, menu entries, button captions, etc is all invisible. I have done a bit of searching but all I could find was to ensure that freetype is installed an that all fonts are installed. Freetype is installed, and I copied all of the fonts from the corefonts package to .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts, but no luck.
I read on the wine appdb bugzilla that it may have something to do with the tahoma font, however I copied tahoma.ttf into .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts, so I don't know what it could be. I shall try a different wine version as well.
Ok, it seems that i've solved the problem.
Install Winetools, and install all the Fonts in Base System and under Core Fonts.
To start winetools with wine 0.9.25 you must have an edited /usr/local/bin/wt
You Can download it here http://hotel482.server4you.de/linux/wt
Copy This File into /usr/local/bin/wt and now you can start winetools.
But Please make no Fake Windows Drive with winetools it should work without it.
Okay, I used the ebuild above to install winetools and the script to run wt. I installed all of the core fonts after installing Internet Explorer 6 SP1, but still, all of the text is invisible. Am I missing something?
if you have a Windows installation / can get hold of the tahoma font just stick the tahoma font in your wine's windows/fonts folder and it fixes the issue...
