Sonyericsson k800i BT pan setup [SOLVED]

Ok as stated in topic...
I have a SonyEricsson k800i that supports using a pan profile to connect to internet. I dont know it its any better than using a dialup profile but it seems to be less fuss (if i can get it working) as the phone does all the connecting etc.

i dont really know on where to start goingabout this problem.

Regards Kim

With my Nokia 6600 phone I need to create a connection between my phone and laptop:

Code: Select all

rfcomm bind /dev/rfcomm0 my:phone:bluetooth:address 1
Then I have a dialup-profile in KPPP, which just dials to *99# (GPRS number here in Finland with an operator called Sonera). Modem device in KPPP is of course set to /dev/rfcomm0.

That's pretty much it. I'm not actually sure if this is a PAN profile or some default dialup method, but anyway this works for me. :-)
Yes, I'm the man. Now it's your turn to decide if I meant "Yes, I'm the male." or "Yes, I am the Unix Manual Page.".

Uhm .. guess i was to fast to post requesting help..
Seems it was extremly simple to connect... almost pnp ...

edit in "/etc/conf.d/bluetooth" PAND_ENABLE=true
and restart bluetooth

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart

Code: Select all

#cd /etc/init.d
#ln -s net.lo net.bnep0
to start connection

Code: Select all

#pand -c ad:dr:es:so:ff:ph:on:e
to stop connection

Code: Select all

#pand -K
and that was it .. way more simpler than using some dialup connection, presuming u have the connections working in your phone

to get the address of your phone u type "hcitool scan"
