mythtv stopped working after update...

I did emerge --sync and emerge -uDavn world and got obviously mythtv 0.20 in the process.
Everything is right except myth will not run.

I have following flags:

mediabox etc # emerge -pv mythtv

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

I get nothing in /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log

Pure command mythbackend gives me segmentation fault

- like mythtv-setup and anything...

First you'll have to get mythtv-setup to run, but once you do, don't forget you have to run that first to update the database schema. It's probably a bit late, but back them up first.

Well the mythtv-setup crashes likewise with Segmentation Fault so what gives?
Is the old mysql database incompatible? I have a backup of old database...

I am just upgrading my system after being offline for a few months. mythtv-setup was able to upgrade my database without a problem. I am having some problems where the mythbackend 0.20 is hanging.

I am in the same boat. I had an older system working fine with the prior versions of Myth and GCC 3.x. Now with GCC 4 and current upgrade (including complete recompile of world) I still get the segmentation fault only on mythfrontend.

Something is not right... I'm going to try an strace on it but first I'm rebuilding the plugins to see if that is the cause...

Looks like old plugins can cause this issue so try rebuilding/emerging your myth plugins. If that doesn't work, rebuild world per this thread:

Then rebuild mythtv and mythplugins (if you're building from source be sure to do a "make clean" and a ./configure on both to rebuild the Makefiles).

Edit2: Recompiling mythplugins fixed it for me.
