Problem with Eterm

  • Quote

Post by Ralphus Maximus » Thu Jun 05, 2003 2:20 am

I tried eterm after reading about it, emerged it and it ran fine. Once. Now when I try to run it I get:

Code: Select all

Eterm: Warning: ASSERT failed in change_font() at font.c:466: etmfonts[font_idx] != NULL
Eterm: Error: Received terminal signal SIGSEGV (11)
Eterm: Error: Attempting to dump a stack trace....
The only thing I remember doing between the first time and the last is playing with the menus on it, looking at some of the eye candy.

I've since unmerged and re emerged, but I still get this error. Any suggestions out there?

Cheers,
RM

have a look at your home dir. maybe you have got a .eterm dir, including some configs that cause the problem. the easiest und most "unnice" way would be to delete the hole dir - but thats just a shot in the black, cause i don't know if there is a eterm dir at all

Qubax is talking the truth. Do a mv ~/.Eterm somewhere/else, and see if it helps otherwise you would have to provide more info. It seems that Eterm cant find some font in that message you provided.

No joy there. There is no Eterm (or eterm, or EtErM, etc) dir in the /home. This problem is common to running as both root and a user. I don't know what more info I can provide.

Thanks all for the responses.

Sweet! haven't been able to use Eterm in about a freaking year. Finally got off my butt.

I found this thread by using the error message as a search term and... This thread was no help :) So, looking at the error message again tried a few things like emerge -s emtfonts.

Then, Eterm --help | grep font. How do I know this crap :) Some stuff to try there. ok,ok the magic part:

Code: Select all

Eterm --default-font-index 1
Dah Daa!

Now put that in my fluxbox config.... Yup it works. Maybe the whole world already knew that.
