Fluxbox window positions

I just recently installed fluxbox and got it basically operating and changing some things. One thing I noticed is that windows can be dragged into the slit area manually but maximized it stays where it logically should, below the slit. I'm fairly new at this so I don't really know where to begin of even looking.

I want it to where a window can never be manually place in the sliver area for the menu just like when maximized that window doesn't max out the screen, leaving the menubar. Are you able to modify some system settings to achieve this?

I hope this makes sense.

edit: I apparently I changed something that lets the window maximize over everything and I don't know what I changed. Anyone know?

There's a "maximise over slit option" in the fluxbox menu -> configure -> slit -> maximise over.

I'm not sure about your first question, though.
