Post by indow20 » Tue Aug 01, 2006 10:31 am

I just reinstalled gentoo this time without using genkernel.
Followed every step from the handbook and configured grub.conf.
Then i rebooted pc and got the boot screen, when i want to boot gentoo i get this error:

Code: Select all

Unknown interrupt or fault at EIP 00010046 00000060 c01e5d73

Need some help plz!

Try adding ACPI=off to your kernel command line in grub.conf and see if that helps.
Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once.

I doubt it, Linux doesn't really need swap. The error you have is probably due to an unhandled exception or interrupt. You could also try adding pci=noapic to your command line. How early in the boot process does it occur?

Well...hmmph! Next then you'll be wanting to check that you configured your kernel for the right hardware, paying particular attention to support for your motherboard's chipset. Is your's nVidia, Via, or AMD based?

Use the live CD and post your kernel config.. or just use the live CD and use genkernel.

My guess is your kernel ain't talkin to your chipset nicely.
