can't start quake4 (Solved)

as the title says, here is the output

i checked permissions in /opt/quake4 and they seem to be fine. I looked at the forums and it said that i need the files pak001.pk4 - pak012.pk4. i only have pak013.pk4 - pak018.pk4. The trouble is, where do i get the ones that are missing?

quake4-bin has a cdinstall USE flag - turn that on. From its ebuild:

    if ! use cdinstall
    then
        einfo "You need to copy pak001.pk4 through pak012.pk4, along with"
        einfo "zpak*.pk4 from either your installation media or your hard drive"

so I need a cd to install this game? I don't have the cd. I didn't know i needed it.

quake4 is a licensed product of ID software. You must purchase the game in order to install it.

There isn't. The source codes of Q1-Q3 have been realeased for free, but the data files have not been.

If a game using Quake 3 engine is good enough for you, I highly recommend trying Tremulous. It's Free.
