modules not loading with new modular X [solved]

Hi. I just updated my computer to modular X (I followed the tutorial fromthe gentoo news letter), and now when I type startx, I get the following error:

Code: Select all

Couldn't open RGB_DB '/usr/lib/X11/rgb'
(EE) Failed to load module "bitmap" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) Failed to load module "pcidata" (module does not exist, 0)

Does anyone know how to fix this? There is no mention of either of those modules in my xorg.conf file.

I have the same problem myself... and (re)-emerging xbitmaps didn't help.

Are there any other fixes?

Nevermind...

After reading other posts here I got it figured out.... I just commented out the rgb and modulepath lines in my xorg.conf that were left over from before the upgrade.

I have the same prob, and commenting the lines you said don't fix it.
In fact, xorgcfg doesn't work either...

make sure you ran etc-update after upgrading xorg

I also ran across this problem. Turns out I had my ModulePath set incorrectly. The current working setup for me is
RgbPath /usr/share/X11/rgb and ModulePath /usr/lib/xorg/modules
