audacity oss kernel question...

  • Quote

Post by lo-jay » Sat Mar 25, 2006 4:12 pm

succeeded in emerging audacity-1.2.4b-r1.
when starting it i get
error initializing the audio i/o layer
.
got alsa running as module. the kernel config looks like this:

Code: Select all

Device Drivers  --->
    Sound  --->
        <M> Sound card Support
            Advanced Linux Sound Architecture  --->
                <M> Advanced Linux Sound Architecture
            Open Sound System  --->
                < > Open Sound System (Deprecated)
but to my understanding audacity needs oss - is there a way to run it w/
this config?

thanks again!

turn on oss emulation in alsa (enable the module in kernel config). or use rezound as editor, it supports alsa

rezound keeps crashing...
is enabling oss in the kernel sufficient or do i also have to emerge alsa-oss?

thanks a lot!

Turning on OSS in the kernel will upset ALSA, so leav it off, set the "oss" use flag, emerge alsa-oss and alsa-utils, and then you will get the OSS emulation loaded at boot time, and audacity will work.
