Just the same :(
How can I find out what device my camera correspond to? There's to many to try them out one by one, but if there's no other way I guess I'll have to do it that way anyhow. Just checking
Thanks for the tips though

I was wrong i the previously post. It should have been /dev/video0 which should be a link to /dev/v4l/video0. Check if udev has created /dev/v4l/ for you. Your camera device should be there.

Nope, no /dev/v4l, why's that? Can I create it on my own or should it be done automaticaly?

Udev should take care of that as soon as it detects your webcam. Unfortunately I don't know what to do as it all worked for me after I configured my kernel for v4l. (I do hope you din't forget to reboot. ;))

the qc-usb modules do not work with quickcam messenger. Here is the projects website for the fork that support quickcam messenger: http://home.mag.cx/messenger/.
And here's the bugzilla page where you can find an ebuild: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75705.
If you do not know how to make an overlay refer to portage documentation.
Good luck.

Yes, they all show the same. And I have rebuilt the kernel about 10 times, I'm wondering if it's the ck-sources that wont work properly, 'cause there has to be something

Anotherone with problems, bought this Logitech Quickcam messenger today and I can't get it to work.

lsusb gives:

Code: Select all

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 046d:08da Logitech, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 049f:0086 Compaq Computer Corp.
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 045e:007d Microsoft Corp. Notebook Optical Mouse
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
And after a few tries without nothing I started to examine the source for qc-usb-messenger 1.3 and it has
no support for my make/model of webcam.

Guess it's time to talk/email the author.
HP NC 4010, Pentium-M 725 1.6GHz w/ 1Gb RAM, 60Gb Hitachi Travelstar.
Running Gentoo-2.6.21-r4 (again as 2.6.22 kernels hogs CPU), all but SD reader works fine.

I've already mailed the author so I'm awaiting his responce. Meanwhile I tried a little hack
and now i can get the camera to be found but it still bugs out and I can't controll it. And as
I'm no programmer I think i'll wait for the responce before I do something nasty.

Hi folks, any news in here?
I got one of those messenger quickcams with usbid "046d:08da",
and it seems like it isn't suported by qc-usb-messenger-1.3.
I also mailed to the author but didn't get any answer yet :(

Any hints? Any "good" news?
