Oh yeah, remind me how any of this is helpful? Your words work against you, yet despite all the available evidence, you cease to recognize it.

Man, talk about egos flaring.....BIG TIME. Keep it in check, none of what any of you have said is level headed, "he needs a hug..." what?? are you serious, what PLANET are you on?!

Serious.....get down to Earth -- the lot of ya.

None of you can handle *any* criticism what-so-ever! Don't go shooting back at me on this either, because if you back a dog into a corner it will bite! ("mental picture" people, stay with me) This being the case. The whole lot of you are ganging up on me, AND you didn't even consider what it is I am saying.

One person went so far as to take a previous post and imply that I am whining about that, yet you look stupid for doing so because you are way off par!

So is this how the forums have been helpful for you, just pound someone up side the head in large groups, well in that case I'd say these forums excel at being "helpful".

So apparently flaming someone is the best you to get a [solved] next to the title of the post.

Good, you're all a great help! What the heck? I do not understand the whole lot of you. You are blood seething bludegoning people that stab at *anyone* who DARE say anything bad about item <X>

I WAS trying to make this peacefull, apparently you do not like that, ok then....flame on......

This is all a matter of pure blasphemy & ignorance combo I have gotten from you so far! This is obviously all you know.

PS -- What was it that I did to *any* of you to deserve this lambasting?

Wikipedia wrote: Flaming is the act of posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting, usually in the social context of a discussion board on the Internet. Such messages are called flames, and are sometimes posted in response to flamebait. Flaming is said by some to be one of a class of economic problems known as The Tragedy of the Commons, when a group holds a resource (in this case, communal attention), but each of the individual members has an incentive to overuse it. Flamers usually call their flames justified attacks.
Although the trading of insults is as old as humanity, flaming on the Internet, like many other online 'actions', started in the Usenet hierarchies (although it was known to occur in the WWIVnet and FidoNet computer networks as well). A flame may have elements of a normal message, but is distinguished by its intent. A flame is typically not intended to be constructive, to further clarify a discussion, or to persuade other people. The motive for flaming is often not dialectic, but rather social or psychological. Sometimes, flamers are attempting to assert their authority, or establish a position of superiority. Occasionally, flamers wish to upset and offend other members of the forum, in which case they are trolls. Most often however, flames are angry or insulting messages transmitted by people who have strong feelings about a subject. Finally, some consider flaming to be a great way to let off steam, though the receiving party may be less than pleased.
Similarly, a normal, non-flame message may have elements of a flame -- it may be hostile, for example -- but it is not a flame if it is seriously intended to advance the discussion.
As far as I can tell, you've been the only hostile poster ... And yeah, it seems you have this 'I'm superior' thing going on.

No flaming.
Please keep it polite people. Arguing is fine, shouting at each other isn't and name calling and the like will get you banned prompto.
Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

That's exactly not the point of making a distribution. The different distributions aren't really competing with each other. They give the user a choice to do things differently.

YES, you can find a thread someone has posted and ASSUME this is why.
If you would have given examples before, people wouldn't have to assume your problem(s).

I had a look at the thread mentioned by you and can see nothing wrong with it. Some people agreed with the OP and some people didn't. And the suggestion that was made in the other thread is good, but most likely impossible to implement due to lacking man-power.
I also fail to see what is wrong with suggesting another distribution when Gentoo hasn't the requested feature (and will probably not have this feature in the near future).
InfoManiac wrote: The rest of you prove my point, and for the whole get over it thing.....look like you need to look in the mirror.
Well - let's have a look at your post:

1) You double-posted it.
2) I read your post out loud the way it was written (emphazising at fat written text, caps, etc) and it sounded pretty cocky to me.
3) You make it sound like people asking questions get anwers like "I don't know what the answer to your question is, so go find another distro." - This is not true. True is that even some people from other distributions come to this forums to get answers to their linux questions, because they get friendly and competent help. The thread you mentioned was a feature request and there will always be arguments about the viability of a requested features.
4) You gave no examples that proof your points.

Maybe you should rethink your way of writing threads, because the way you started this thread will get you nowhere.
A less arrogant approach from your side would probably have spawned a more fruitful discussion.

Your own ignorance is the real problem here.

@ nixnut

I think it's safe to say to delete this thread and the, I have tried my best to be polite and this is the second time this has turned out to be a flame war.....

I have marked this topic [Flame War *delete*] as well as http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-47 ... ight-.html

It's too bad these conversations had to turn out this way :? This wasn't my intention, I had no idea it would be flaming left and right.

InfoManiac,

If you care to back up the assertions in your opening post with some links, then I for one, will look into them.
Particularly if the posters are going against the guidelines
Otherwise this thread has probably run its course.

Nixnut has already warned abou personal attackes and name calling ...
Regards,

NeddySeagoon

those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

It's always easier to blame it on the others, isn't it? :)

You know InfoManiac:

Gentoo is a metadistribution with metausers and metaresponces but we don't need metaspamposts.
