Overclocking under Linux?

morning,

i am looking for some Over/Underclocking tools for CPU / RAM / FSB etc.
Windows has billionQuadtrillion OverClocking Tools, and what is with Linux?

Can someone tell me a linuxoverclocker Site?
Can someone tell me tools for my Athlon 64 (X2) NForce4 Board or for my Laptop.

Under Windows is Notebook Hardware Controll http://www.pbus-167.com/chc.htm awsome it change CPU Voltage and can some more then 30 Minutes Battery.

Well, this doesn't really answer your question, but no one has responded yet so I'll offer my advice.

I've done some overclocking in my day, but I've never touched any of this overclocking software, even in Windows. I've just always modified my frequencies, timings and voltages in my BIOS configuration and gone from there.

So that's what I would do if I was looking to overclock; keep it software-independent.

^ yes overclocking should always be done low-level: at the bios. Using any sort of OS-dependant software to overclock is just asking for trouble, and a broken OS to boot. If you're going to OC do it the real way, through the bios.

But the most Laptop Bios doesent have any overclocking options.
I cant change only date and some other boot options on my Acer Aspire 1692 Notebook.

And "Bios" OC has one con you must allways reboot to change the Clock.

why would you even try to overclock a laptop? they have heat issues the way it is already.... you're asking for a burnt CPU or burnt genitalia -- one of the two.

LOL, agreed!

I guess overclocking a laptop can be possible if you can keep the room you use the laptop very cold. And I mean too cold for you to be comfortable without extra heavy clothing. Around 50F to 60F should do very well.

I am undervolt the CPU form 1.35 Volt to 0.90 Volt and Overclocke the CPU from 1,73 Ghz to 2,2Ghz and its Colder then Original Settings. (Under Windows)

Linux Cant Overclock okay i Understand.

Overclock its for Windows Only.sade

If you can do that (and stay stable) I than guess its ok... The one thing I have learned from my overclocking experience is that heat is your number one biggest enemy after you select quality components...

Wrong. Here's one example.

It's not a matter of capabilities; it's just that this kind of software isn't mainstream. I'd like to think that this is because Linux users are just plain saner. Seriously, if you go to any of the Windows "extreme overclocking" websites and visit the forums, you'll inevitably find a plethora of maniacs.

So, the point is that you can mess with your hardware in any way that you want under Linux, as long as you know how. If I was a kernel programmer, I'm sure I could tell you more.

That's the only way I overclock too.
