Hi,

I keep changing my default target to pdf, however it keeps changing it back.

I type:
TTarget, and then pdf

Next time i open vim, its back to default dvi

Also if i do:
let g:Tex_CompileRule_pdf = 'dvipdf $*.dvi'

next time i open up its back to default...

i must be missing something

Thanks!

Vim won't keep variables' values between sessions, so you'll have to set them in the files that vim sources on startup for the effect to be permanent. I guess the proper place in this case would be ~/.vim/ftplugin/tex/texrc.vim, depending on your environment of course. This works for me (stock install of vim & latex-suite). Check out

Code: Select all

:help customizing-latex-suite
in vim for a more thorough explanation.

The plugin is really neat, isn't it?

awesome, i'm very close to having it setup the way i want it now

I changed my default to pdf, and i changed the compilation chain to go "latex *.tex -> dvipdf *.dvi"

However, during dvipdf it makes me hit enter before it returns back to vim, unlike if my default is dvi, if i compile it successfully compiles and brings me back to vim

So, why is it when i added dvipdf to the compilation chain, i now have to hit enter after every successful compile?

Can't say without some research why you have to hit enter to get back to vim. If I recall correctly though, I have to do it after every compile regardless. You could use pdflatex to do it in one go, unless you need the .dvi file.
