back before the newfangled hald, hotplug, gnome-volume-manager stuff, i had my /etc/fstab entry for my usb cf card reader mount the media that was v/fat w/ the default permissions of 644 for all files.
now, in the new way of doing things, gnome-volume-manager mounts the v/fat partitions w/ all files at 700. this is bugging me and i hope to fix this. why the heck is +x even set for anything that resides on v/fat partitions?
