Alternatively, wait two or three hours and emerge --sync, it should be available through portage then.

You mean pressing F12 doesn't bring it in the foreground? Once it's active, executing yakuake will just return. Does ps -C yakuake tell it's running?

Well I got a popup in the upper left corner of my desktop that it had been started, but I'm on KDE 3.5, perhaps that's the reason I got one.

There's a gui notification (message with timeout) on the first startup. Executing yakuake when it's already running should bring up something like that again, that would indeed be more userfriendly. Maybe you can write a feature request? :-)

I didn't notice what was causing my very long startups until I removed Kuake and installed this wonderful app. Damn Kuake and hurray for yaKuake. I like the tabbing a lot.

You can do that by creating a transparent schema in Konsole and then loading it in Yakuake.

Hi there,

I've just installed yakuake, but I can't get it work. It runs, a small notification pop-up appear, but in konsole (where I run it) I get the following message:

Code: Select all

$ yakuake
Uh oh.. can't write data..
and F12 doesn't work....

KDE 3.5.2

Any ideas?

Hello,

is there any possibility to switch off the message in the upper left corner? I start yakuake together with KDE and don't want to get this message every startup :wink:

Kind regards!

I made a patch by ripping the code right out of konsole. Its ugly, and I don't think it supports reading the alpha variable of a schema - it just turns transparency on, but its been working fine for me.
