For production,blackdown or IBM JDK? tomcat & mod_jk stable?

Hi there,
I got a AMD64 bit Gentoo server and it's for serious production purpose.

Now i need to use tomcat to serve some jsp stuff, and i've read almost all the posts here related to this setup. It seems the best combination at this moment should be blackdown / IBM 1.4x JDK (both have amd64 distribution) + Tomcat 5.0, but I got two questions here :

1. Since it's for serious production usage, i would like to ask for experience of compariing the stability and performane between blackdown 1.4 jdk and IBM 1.4 jdk. Which one would be preferrable for production usage ?

2. As of today, in portage, tomcat and mod_jk are still both masked under amd64 environment, so i'm hesitating whether it's stable enough for production usage ? Any folks have this experience ? ( i'm going to have a "apache + mod_jk + tomcat" setup , so as to server php from apache and jsp from tomcat )

I've been using sun-jdk and resin with mod_caucho for ages. Too bad there aren't any up-to-date ebuilds for it. However the latest release compiles without much pain again using the default method.
