X clipboard does not work on remotly started X apps [solved]

Hi,

as said in the subject I can not paste my current clipboard contens into windows which belong to remotely started X applications.

E.g. Xemacs says:

"No selection, clipboard or cut buffer available"

Marking an copying inside the remote app works flawlessly.

When I try to do it the other way around (mark stuff in the remote app and try to paste it to a local window) I get (not so) funny error messages, e.g. like this (from a remote kedit):

This happens when I login to my second machine (also gentoo) and when loggin in to a remote server (debian, ppc).

Doing this kind of thing at work from debian to debian seems to work flawlessly.

Does anyone has a clue on how to debug this kind of problem?
