I don't think it's the same problem since he doesn't have immqt or immqt-bc enabled. The USE-flag isn't called "risky" for nothing.

I too can confirm that koffice will not build with the risky flag set. It complains about QTextEngine or something like that (not at my box at the moment). Re-emerging qt with -risky fixes the problem.

I also can't get kaffeine to compile, but I don't know if this is due to the glibc or qt patches, as this is a new system buildm so kaffeine has never been on.

i have no problem with kaffeine, but kompare and digikam fail with undefined symbols. =/

digikam-0.8.1 compiles here, though I too had problems with it earlier. kompare-3.5.1 still bounces; here is the error for reference:

Haven't used kaffeine in a while, but kmplayer compiles fine, as does every other program on here

I am facing problems with kaffeine too. showimg and kipi-plugins are not compiling as well.

Ok but you are trying to compile kde with symbol visibility enabled and it has some known problems, that's why it's disabled by default. Try without it for this package and enable it for the rest.

wine just has ugly fonts. And cedega fails to start:

About the Wine issue, I fixed it by making a symlink from the corefonts folder (/usr/share/fonts/corefonts with Modular X) to the fake windows/fonts wine folder

(+ marlett.ttf for the 'close' symbol & all).

No idea about Cedega, but you could try the same sort of things, if the directory structure makes any kind of understandable sense...

Ok. Now I have another problem. It's related to qt-3.3.5. With qt-3.3.4 everything is allright. Just look at screenshots:

It's interesting that I can see this symbol in Opera (shared qt) and OOo2 with Qt widgets . GTK+ apps also work fine.

As you suggested in a previous post, and someone has pointed above, you can compile kde with symbol visibility support but disable it for a simple package. Interesting. I have somple problem with programs as digikam (SVN) and other with visibility, so I've been forced to disable this optimization in qt, kdelibs and kdebase. So, please, could you explain us how to do this? It is a compile time option or something else?

@ViRgiLiO: (if i undestood you correctly) to compile application without visibility you just have to remove -fvisibility-inlines-hidden from your CXXFLAGS - visibility support is a compile time option. you can also try building qt without risky flag...

No compiling KDE with visiblity supports includes both -fvisibility=hidden and -fvisibility-inlines-hidden and those are added by the build system, not from your C[XX]FLAGS. It doesn't matter if you have it in your C[XX]FLAGS because they gets filtered anyway. --enable-gcc-hidden-visibility is the configure option.

To use it apply this patch to your kde.eclass:
cd /usr/portage/eclass
patch -p0 < /home/whatever/kde.eclass-nxsty.patch

It'll add two new USE-flags; kdehiddenvisibility and kdenewldflags. The first enabled symbol visibility and the second enables --as-needed. Set both in make.conf then set -kdehiddenvisibility in package.use for those packages that fails. If you are using gcc 4.1 you should apply the patch dirtyepic mentioned to your gcc first.
