Does anyone knows how to put any svg image on the top of cube?
I know that i have to change /apps/compiz/plugins/cube/screen0/options/svgs to some directory, where are those svgs, but nothing happens.

Same problem with unresolved symbols here.
I think that those symbols have to be in mesa libGL.so but they aren't there.

... *sad* ...

But *WHICH* ebuild??? Mesa's? XGL's? compiz's?

doing a grep for ECVS in my XGL overlay returns alot of stuff...
Ah, sorry, there was a mesa-ebuild "mesa-6.4.3_alpha20060209-r2.ebuild" around which was downloading a file "Mesa-cvs-20060209.tar.bz2"
instead of using cvs directly. The latest ebuild from hanno do it the right way.

Anyways, it's still not working, "t_vb_arbshader.c" now is in cvs-source of mesa and XGl though... :?

Speaking of fglrx...

I'm running fglrx for an X600 mobility on a Dell latitude D810. It uses PCIe.

When I run Xgl (before it broke with these errors :

Code: Select all

dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/xgl/libglcore.so: undefined symbol: _tnl_arb_vertex_shader_stage

Fatal server error:
No GLX modules loaded
dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/xgl/libglcore.so: undefined symbol: _tnl_arb_vertex_shader_stage

FatalError re-entered, aborting
No GLX modules loaded
Aborted
Xgl would run great for about 2 or 3 minutes, and would not just crash. But freeze the whole system.

I know some others have mentioned this problem as well, but not enough fglrx users have said "Yeah, me too."

I'm thinking it might be an issue with PCIe...anyone using fglrx having similiar issues?

my lspci:

So does anyone know how to get the screensaver to be the wallpaper like in the new video, how to change the svg's of the cube (top and bottom), and how to change the window decorations?

I'm pretty sure xscreensaver has a -root flag that will make it run in the background like 'wallpaper'.

I don't think there are any other themes for the window decorator yet.

Were the minimize/maxmize effects removed in Compiz? I only see the windows fade in and out. Nothing like what the videos had.

I am also getting this. I tried using both Mesa 6.4.2 and the alpha version in Hanno's overlay (from CVS) but both have failed with this error.
I have an nvidia 6600GT and Opengl is working fine.
EDIT: I am using the command Xgl :1 -ac -accel glx:pbuffer -accel xv but I don't think that matters.

I'm using Hanno's overylay also. I've been sitting here hitting refresh every few minutes in hopes to find an answer. :)

Maybe it is just today's overlay. It seems to be working for previous ones, so I may try using the one before.
EDIT: There isn't much changed so I see no point. Anyone got a solution?

http://cvs.freedesktop.org/mesa/Mesa/sr ... 8&view=log

They've added the missing symbol "_tnl_arb_vertex_shader_stage" in "t_vb_arbshader.c".

You can modify the ebuild: remove the # in the first two "ECVS.." lines, in "src_unpack()" comment out "unpack..." and "ewarn..", remove # before "cvs_src_unpack" for pulling the latest cvs-snapshot of mesa.

compiling now...
This is the best "fix" we have seen yet...and I'm sorry to be rude, but I can't make heads or tails of it. I'm not sure which ebuild's he's talking about, and I'd like to know exactly which lines he's talking about.

again, anyone with fglrx experiencing a problem that the whole system freezes after a few minutes of using Xgl??

Yeah, it doesn't. I have just tried recompiling everything (except xorg) against Mesa CVS and it has the same error.

This is in /var/tmp/portage/mesa-6.4.3_alpha20060209/work/Mesa/src/mesa/tnl/t_vb_arbshader.c

const struct tnl_pipeline_stage _tnl_arb_vertex_shader_stage = {
"ARB_vertex_shader",
NULL,
construct_arb_vertex_shader,
destruct_arb_vertex_shader,
validate_arb_vertex_shader,
run_arb_vertex_shader
};

nothing syntactically wrong with it. I guess libglcore.so just doesnt link against it?

EDIT: browsing through the Mesa makefiles, I cant find rules that make any of this tnl stuff. the "sources" file lists TNL_SOURCES but its never referenced in the Makefile... hrmm. Added $(TNL_SOURCES) to ALL_SOURCES in the Makefile, we'll see what this does!

EDIT2: in xgl-server ... /var/tmp/portage/xgl-20060211/work/xgl-xorg/GL/mesa/tnl/Makefile.am doesnt include t_vb_arbshader.c!! theres no link to it, going to try and manually add the link, add the file in Makefile.am and recompile xgl-server. cross our little fingers.

EDIT3 - this just might work, first attempt I got t_vb_arbshader.c:33:27: error: slang_utility.h: No such file or directory ... damn headers. Will solve this.. hold on. Added -I../shader/slang to INCLUDE paths in Makefile.am

IT WORKS IT WORKS!!! OK guys I so late for class its not funny but heres what i did... (sry, dont have time for patches)

PART A) may not be necessary but i did it anyway
1) unpack the mesa ebuild
2) cd to /var/tmp/portage/mesa-6.4.3_alpha20060209/work/Mesa/src/mesa
3) add $(TNL_SOURCES) to bottom of ALL_SOURCES (line 136ish below Generic stuff)
4) compile, merge

PART B)
1) unpack xgl ebuild
2) cd to /var/tmp/portage/xgl-20060211/work/xgl-xorg/GL/mesa/tnl
3) ln -s /var/tmp/portage/xgl-20060211/work/Mesa/src/mesa/tnl/t_vb_arbshader.c t_vb_arbshader.c
4) edit the Makefile.am ... and -I../shader/slang in the INCLUDES
5) in the same Makefile.am add t_vb_arbshader.c \ to the list of files under nodist_libtnl_la_SOURCES ( i added it right below vb_arbprogram_sse.c)
6) compile, merge and VOILA no more missing symbol

Boy I hope i didnt miss a step, I'll be home in like, 3/4 hours and make some nice patches (or if someone apt enough can do it for me that'd be great!)

Please forget it and look at my last post above. i was talking about the mesa-ebuild in my overlay, that didn't use cvs directly for pulling the source. So i thought, not getting the new file "t_vb_arbshader.c" might be the problem. But as i see now this file is in "...src/mesa/tnl/" in both tree's, mesa and xgl, but the missing symbol will nevertheless not be included in any of the installed open-gl libs.

What is the difference between mesa-6.4.2-r1 and mesa-6.4.3_alpha20060209? For example my compiz works perfect with mesa-6.4.2-r1, except gnome workspace switcher, it becomes scaled about four times

Has anyone got xgl/mesa/compiz up and running with the i810 driver??

All i got was a black screen and very broken windows. xterm shows up, but gnome-terminal gets very diffused!

Note: this was before the update, now i just have the Undefined symbol error like the rest of you. Keep up the good work CoffeeBuzz!
