emerge gnome, - ImportError: No module named libxml2

hi, i just tried to emerge gnome. but after hours and hours I got an error message like this:

what shall i do to resume the compilation and avoid getting this error message again?

i guess i found the hind, in one of your docs.

python-updater was needed, whatever that means

the answer to this for n00bs like myself is to run python-updater , if that doesnt work run USE="python" emerge libxml2

i havent ran the 2nd command and dont know if it works sine python-updater fixed my problem, but i got it from an op in one of the gentoo rooms =P hope this helps whoever runs into the same problem

It will. The reason is that you have upgraded python since installing libxml2 - so its installed in python2.3 but you are running python2.4.
However the first fix is preferred since it will upgrade any such packages

Hmm, I had the same error message when I tried to install gnome myself... I think ^^ Have you tested to emerge libxml2?
